MADO Parfums Limitée is a private company involved in the marketing and selective distribution of perfumes, cosmetics, and beauty products.

MADO Parfums Limitée is duly registered under the laws of Mauritius with its registered office located in Riche Terre. In this document, the term MADO refers to MADO Parfums Limitée and all its future subsidiaries. This Privacy Policy applies to MADO Parfums Limitée and all its future subsidiaries.

Why the privacy policy?

The Data Protection Act 2017 is designed to strengthen individuals' control and personal autonomy over their personal data, in line with relevant international standards. MADO's adopted privacy policy describes how MADO collects and uses individuals' personal data during and after the period we engage with them.

What personal data do we collect?

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that individual can be identified. Personal information collected and processed by the Company (in paper and electronic form) includes:

  3. Contact information such as phone number

  6. Identification number

Why does MADO process your personal data?

The Privacy Policy explains the purposes for which MADO processes personal data in order to fulfill its duties and responsibilities, which include:

  1. Compliance with contractual obligations, or
  2. Our legal obligation

In any event, MADO undertakes to ensure that the information it collects and processes is suitable for the purpose for which it was collected.

MADO reassures its customers that any disclosure or transfer of personal data to third parties and/or different countries will only be carried out if it corresponds to one of the above purposes.

When and for what purpose does MADO process your personal data?

This privacy policy explains all the ways MADO plans to use your personal data and the legal basis we rely on to do so. MADO has also identified areas of legitimate interest. Marketing objectives

MADO may use your personal data to inform you about relevant products and offers. The personal data we have about you consists of what you have voluntarily provided to us and the data we collect in the circumstances mentioned in section 5 above.

We may use your personal data to send you marketing correspondence if we have your consent. You can ask us to stop sending you such correspondence by notifying the Company in writing at any time.

We may also ask you to confirm or update your personal data and/or choices (e.g. your preferred communication channel) in the future.

Cookies

When you connect to our websites, we automatically collect information through cookies and other similar technologies, such as web beacons. Cookies are small text files that are automatically placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are stored by your web browser. Cookies contain basic information about your internet usage. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. Who will the data be communicated to?

In addition, MADO may share your personal data either with your consent or by operation of law with external third parties inside or outside the territory of Mauritius only if this fulfills one of the obligations and responsibilities mentioned in section 4 above. These include, among others:

  • Mauritius-based service providers acting as subcontractors who provide IT and system administration services, payroll services, etc.
  • professional advisors based in Mauritius acting as lawyers, bankers and auditors, among others
  • the Mauritius Revenue Authority, regulators and other authorities based in Mauritius who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances.
  • our suppliers outside Mauritius to fulfill our contractual obligation that we have entered into with you

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors, and other third parties who have a business need to do so. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

How long is your personal data kept?

MADO will keep your personal data for:

  • the period necessary for the purposes for which it is originally collected, or
  • the period that may be necessary for MADO to comply with legal obligations.

Acceptance of the use of personal data

You acknowledge, understand and agree that MADO, in order to provide you with its services in the normal course of its business activities, will collect and, where applicable, process the personal data that you voluntarily provide.

How to withdraw your consent?

You may withdraw your consent to the disclosure and processing of your personal data for specific purposes at any time. If you wish to do so, you must inform MADO in writing.

If you withdraw your consent, we will not be able to provide you with certain products or services and you will be informed of this.

However, notwithstanding the withdrawal of your consent, your personal data may still be processed by the Company in the exercise of its legal obligations.

How do we keep your data secure and confidential?

We are committed to ensuring the security of your information with us and with third parties acting on our behalf. We have implemented several security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of your information. All staff working for MADO have a legal obligation to keep information about you confidential. The Company has implemented strict information security policies and procedures to ensure the security of your information (whether stored in paper or electronic format).

Request access to your personal data .

This includes details of the information we hold about you and a copy of that information. The information will be provided free of charge and, unless there are reasons to extend the legal deadline, the information will be provided to you within one month of receiving your request.

Request rectification of the personal data we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.

Request deletion of your personal data. You can request the deletion or removal of personal data when:

  • There is no good reason for us to continue to treat it
  • You have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below),
  • You believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful, or
  • We are required to erase your personal data to comply with local law.

Please note, however, that we may not always be able to comply with such a request where it is necessary to retain your information for the purposes of establishing, making or defending legal claims.

Request an objection to the processing of your personal data

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data on the grounds that it impacts your fundamental rights and freedoms. You also have the right to object when we process your personal data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, MADO may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information that override your rights and freedoms. 

Request the limitation of the processing of your personal data.

You have the right to ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data in the following scenarios:

  • If you want us to establish the accuracy of the data.
  • When you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful, but you do not want us to erase it.
  • Where you need us to keep the data even if we no longer require it because you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • You have objected to our use of your data, but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it.

Withdraw your consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide you with certain services. We will notify you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.

The information will be provided free of charge. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is manifestly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive. Alternatively, we may decide, subject to our legal obligations, to delete your personal data if we consider that you are abusing your right to access your personal data in our possession. You will therefore bear the consequences of such deletion and we will not be liable in any way if we are unable to provide you with services and/or meet our contractual obligations towards you following such deletion.

Please note that we will usually also ask for confirmation of your identity and may need more information from you in order to locate the information, in which case the period starts from the date we have those details. Please note that in some cases we will not be able to fully comply with your request, for example where your request also relates to information about someone else and confidentiality must be maintained.

Requests and complaints

You have the right to lodge a complaint about MADO's processing of your personal data with the Data Commissioner at any time. However, we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns before contacting the Commissioner. Changes and Updates
